TOP 5 OILS to prevent hair loss and speed hair growth!
If you’re like me, you've had your fair share of products. They take up so much space in your bathroom and now your boo is giving you the side eye because his counter space is starting to look like his closet space... non-existent! Well, it's time to purge your product drawer to make room for some tried and true hair oils that will do double duty for your curls and skin!
Through years of research and product development, I have compiled a go to list of nutritious natural oils for your tresses. Remember product performance is based on your hair texture, density, and porosity. In addition, be mindful that what may work for someone else's hair may not necessarily perform for your hair. Bringing out the best of your hair’s natural texture requires dedication, premium ingredients, and PATIENCE.
First things first. Let go of any oils that don't feed or nourish your skin! Hair is an appendage of the skin, so if it’s safe for skin, its safe for hair. Stay away from parabens, minerals, petroleum, sulfates, and phthalates, or any other toxic ingredient that can dry your hair, or clog your pores. Look for oils that are blended with simple and organic ingredients. The list should be sustainably sourced, free from artificial fragrances, and are hypoallergenic. Your oil should be processed without the use of chemicals, which can strip the oil from being beneficial.
1.Avocado Oil -
Rich in Oleic acid, and vitamins A, D, E, Avocado has antioxidant properties which promote healing to the skin by creating a barrier against ultra-violet rays and free radicals. It also seals split ends and increases suppleness and pliability. In addition, Avocado oil is an excellent treatment if you suffer from dandruff, psoriasis or dry itchy scalp. Use this oil as a hot oil treatment, or add it to your favorite conditioner.
2. Pumpkin Seed Oil
A study published in the Evidence -based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that study participants saw a 40% increase in hair growth after 24 weeks of use. This nutty oil is packed with DHT blocking phytosterols, minerals, antioxidants, and vitamin B7, which help to promote hair growth and thicken hair, while reducing shedding.
3 Castor Oil
This thick vegetable oil is full of ricinoleic, A-linolenic, and oleic acids. Castor oil thickens hair, heals the skin, and is a natural humectant. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which make it perfect for treating acne, dandruff and folliculitis, an infection of the hair follicle.
4. Rosemary Oil

Often used in skincare because it is considered to be non-comedogenic and naturally hypoallergenic, Grapeseed Oil also shortens the telogen (shedding) phase of the hair cycle . When used on the skin, it can even out skin and improve texture by helping to remove dead skin cells. When purchasing grape seed oil, look for hexane free types to ensure that the nutrients of the oil are not loss during processing.
